Visas
One of the least pleasant aspects of study abroad in any foreign country is the necessity of obtaining a long-term residence visa. All NON EU foreigners (EU foreignesr do not need it) studying or working in the Czech Republic are required to have this visa. The application procedure is time-consuming and complicated, and the rules are strict, so please read the information below very carefully and begin your application procedure immediately after confirmation of your acceptance to the University of Economics, Prague.
Students who are to study in the Czech Republic must obtain their visa prior to arrival to the country. An application has to be submitted to the Czech Embassy or consulate in each student's home country. Please note that the procedure may take 2 months or more. Please submit your application well in advance to avoid possible later problems.
The filled-in application form must be accompanied by:
- letter of acceptance issued by the Czech university
- statement confirming that the applicant has financial resources to cover her/his stay in the Czech Republic - i.e. confirmation of scholarship (if granted), or a statement from a bank: the minimum amount required is 2650 CZK (ca. 110 euro) for each month of stay in the country
- statement confirming that the applicant has a place to live during her/his stay in the Czech Republic
- transcript from a criminal registry in applicant's home country
- 3 passport-like photos
- valid passport
The fee for issuing the visa is CZK 1000 (cca. 40 euro).
