Buddy System is a non-profit organization which was established in 1998. It grows since then and now it has approximately 70 members. This organization arranges a lot of trips through the Czech Republic and neighbouring countries and also many sport or cultural activities. These actions are primarily designed for foreign students and their buddies, but other students of VSE can also join sometimes.

15.09.2002 Buddy System on VSE became an independent member of an international student organization ESN (www.esn.org – you can find more about ESN in the Erasmus Student Network section), which has more than 300 sections. The official name was hereby changed to “ESN VŠE Praha – Buddy System”. Membership of our organization has brought us increase of credibility, improvement of offered services for Czech and foreign students. Last but not least benefit is the possibility of international cooperation. There is ESN Czech Republic within Czech Republic that gathers 11 Czech sections of ESN International. The ESN VSE Prague – Buddy System has now legal entity of a civil association and it is registered by the Ministry of Internal Affairs in the Czech Republic.
What are the activities of Buddy System and what actions are its members joining?

Buddy System helps foreign students who come for an exchange program to our university by giving them a “friend” - Czech buddy - that advises and helps them with accommodation in dormitories, orientation in school and in Prague and many other things. Czech students can get 10 points in return for the selection procedure for studying abroad and also learn something about other cultures and exercise in foreign languages.
Buddy System arranges a lot of trips through the Czech Republic, (ie. to Pilsen, Kutná Hora, Karlštejn or weekend in Moravia region) and foreign cities (ie. Dresden or Krakow). There are also lots of sport activities to join (paintball or ski trip) in order to offer also active exercise.
Probably the best-known activities of Buddy System are traditional Tuesdays’ Nation 2 Nation parties. These parties are not just about music and dancing but about different nations, because each N2N party is dedicated to one of the nation. Students from that nation prepare a presentation about their country, some of their typical food, welcome drinks and interesting games. All who come to the party can therefore meet new people and learn something about different cultures. There are also regularly organized special parties on Nation 2 Nation as Halloween Party, St. Nicholas Party or Easter Party and the best nation presentation is chosen on the Award Ceremony by the end of the semester.
